The title is in the previous owner's name and is un-signed. The previous owner provided me with a "Motor Vehicle Limited Power of Attorney" which grants me the authority to sign and transfer the title to anyone on his behalf. You simply take the documentation down to the title/tag office as you normally would. If you are seeking bank financing for this car, you need to inform your bank of this because I understand that some banks will not provide a loan check for a car where the seller is not the person named on the title.
